Resources
IROC's Community Engagement Workgroup (CEW) members collaborate on a variety of projects. Our goal is to provide resources that are useful to patients and families facing chronic kidney disease.
If you have a suggestion for a helpful resource, please email us at communityiroc@gmail.com.

Make-A-Wish®
Did You Know: Kidney transplant recipients referred between the ages of 2 ½ and 18 years old automatically qualify for a Make-A-Wish® experience?
Families can refer children through their website, or contact your hospital kidney center team for support.
Funding Resources
Download our guide to funding resources for transplant patients. This resource, created by Alicia Moreno and the IROC Community Engagement Workgroup, includes grants, co-pay support, transportation aid, and fundraising platforms to help ease the financial burden of kidney transplants. Whether you're a patient, caregiver, or social worker, this guide can connect you with the help you need.
Mental Health Resources
The CEW is pleased to present three mental health resources specifically designed for individuals with kidney disease. These resources are intended to improve support and overall well-being for our community.
Special thanks to Katie Figueroa (CEW), Dr. Kara West (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia), and Dr. Elizabeth Steinberg Christofferson (Children's Hospital Colorado) for their dedicated efforts and contributions to this project.
Summer Camps
A list of summer camps especially for children with kidney disease and/or kidney transplants. Most camps are free or very low cost.
Scholarships
A list of scholarships especially for people with kidney disease and/or kidney transplants. Scholarships range from educational to general financial support and can be for patients, family members, or medical caregivers.
Kidney Shields / Guards
The following information grew out of our members' question: “Does anyone know of a company that makes comfortable kidney guards?” We were surprised to find that there were so many options, from custom to off-the-shelf.
Over-the-Counter Medication Guide
Over-the-counter (OTC) medications can be bought without a prescription and are useful for managing your child's symptoms when they're sick. However, not all are safe for kidney transplant recipients. This guide, created by the CEW, offers important tips for safe OTC management.
